Netlify Drop vs HaveTML for sharing one HTML page
Netlify Drop is a drag-and-drop deploy. Anonymous drops stay password-protected until claimed, and unclaimed drops are removed after one hour. HaveTML publishes the file as a permanent link, with comments and versions.
HaveTML
The page, as a link

Publish from your agent instead of dragging a folder
Netlify Drop is a drag-and-drop deploy: you drop a folder, you get a URL. That is fast when you are at a desk with the files. It is a long way around when the HTML is sitting in Claude, Cursor or Codex and you would rather ask the agent to publish it. Connect HaveTML from the connect page and ask the agent to publish the HTML as unlisted. There is no build step: the file is the page. MCP is free on every plan. The dashboard drag-and-drop is still there if you want it.
The hour window on anonymous drops
Netlify's Drop page and the introducing-Drop post are the sources: you do not need an account to drop, anonymous drops stay password-protected until claimed, and unclaimed drops are removed after one hour. A build only runs when you are logged in. Files under 50 MB work best; files over 10 MB may stall. Updating is dragging the new folder onto the Deploys page. HaveTML needs an account to publish. The link is permanent. Re-publish and it becomes a new version behind the same link. Size is 4.5 MB over MCP and REST, 50 MB via the dashboard. Comments are pinned to the rendered page; Netlify does not describe comments on a Drop deploy.
When Netlify is the host, not Drop
This page compares HaveTML with Drop, not with Netlify as a whole. Stay on Netlify when you are hosting a site or a framework build, with custom domains and Git-based deploys. Drop is the no-Git shortcut, and it is good at that shortcut. HaveTML is the no-build shortcut for one HTML, Markdown, YAML or JSON file that should start private, keep versions, and take comments. If you already have a Netlify site, keep it. Publish the one-off page to HaveTML when the one-off is the thing you are sending.
The short version
- Yes. Choose HaveTML when the link has to last, when you want comments on the page, or when an agent should publish it over MCP instead of dragging a folder.
- Partial. Choose Netlify when you are hosting a whole site or a framework build, with custom domains and Git-based deploys.
